COMMENTS: new year, new style
I'm so glad you're finding that writing with a deadline and without regard to quality is "incredibly freeing." It is! Isn't that a wonderful discovery? Who knew?

I believe your invite to the 3rd Annual G'N'R Party/Skeet Shoot Invitational was recieved long before the January 6th party date. You could have started the new partying year off right. Cocktail dresses were optional.

Okay, the next time we go to the beach, we'll have a cocktail party and dress up. Holly served pomegranate martinis at the Family Christmas Party, and I know she has several recipes for other varieties. I just need a Martini shaker and glasses. I also will need a cocktail dress. Anyway, we can make it a cocktail and book book party (cook and book)and you can share your wonderful writing.

Mom, did you mean "cook book party" or "book book party?" I'm confused about that sentence.
If we have a cocktail party at the beach you need to invite more people than just us, or I'll feel weird. But I like the idea.
Also, I'm not sharing any of this particular writing, because it isn't wonderful. The point is to get myself back into writing.

No wonder you are confused. The second "book" is a typo. Didn't you ever hear of cook and book events?
I wish you would share your writing, especially if it is teen-oriented; you might have some fans in my students.
As for the cocktail party, of course we would invite more people. I'll start planning...

You are not alone, Beth. I think most of us who read the "breakfast-at-Balthazar" article hated those people. That's what the Styles section is for--to cause equal parts envy and loathing. And perhaps as a result to push us just a little closer to the inevitable revolution.
You can wear a ballgown to my Oscars party in February if you want; it would be appropriate.
